Call it what you like it’s the latest water sport that’s rapidly growing in the UK and around many coasts in the world. It’s basically a long, thick surfboard that you stand on and paddle with a single ended oar. You can paddle out to sea through the breaking waves with relative ease and then turn around and surf a wave and ride it all the way in. They are very, very stable and for sure you will fall off a lot your first couple of times but very quickly you will build up your balance and strength and be ripping!
Another great side to this sport is the fitness side of it. I regularly go out and just paddle along the coast or even up the river a few miles and because your balancing and paddling at the same time it really builds up your core strength and works all the main muscle groups with out really over doing it.
One issue with these boards is storage and transportation as they are roughly 12 feet long. However we have formed a club here and we offer storage based right on the beach.
LESSONS
If you want to learn how to Paddle surf then I’m offering lessons and can guarantee you will amaze yourself at how well you get on. It’s a 1 hour session and I will supply all of the equipment needed unless you have your own wetsuit and board. The cost is £35.00 which will be refunded if you decide to buy a paddle board off us.
So if you’re looking for a new sport and you’ve quite fancied getting into surfing or kayaking in the past then this is your opportunity to become one of the first paddle surfers in the UK.

Stormriders Kitesurfing School info Winter 07/Spring 08

If you are keen to learn to Kitesurf / Powerkite over the winter then this is what we can offer you.

Come and do the Land-based stage 1 lesson. £60.00

This is the essential, initial lesson for any form of power kite sport. It’s a 2 hour session where we will teach you about the POWER ZONE that the kite will be flying in. How to rig up a 3 meter foil kite and launch and control it. Ensure you learn how to steer the kite whilst it’s connected to a harness that you will be wearing and really get comfortable with dealing with the power and answer all your questions.
We supply all of the equipment for this lesson unless you would like us to teach you using your own equipment. These lessons are generally run in groups every weekend through out the winter unless you require 1 on 1 tuition.
For those of you that want to get into KITESURFING we can offer a further one hour lesson on how to rig up an INFLATABLE kite, understand the control techniques and the tuning and safety systems. Get you launching and landing the kite and keeping it in control whilst on the land. This lesson is free is you purchase your kite from us!

For Water based lessons over the winter please give us a call and we may be able to rig up a one on one session for you. Alternatively if you would rather wait until the sea warms up a little then I would suggest come and do the stage 1 lesson, then buy a trainer kite for about £140 and practice in your local park or on the beach. Then come March / April when you do get to do a stage 2 + 3 water based lesson then your flying skills will hopefully be up to scratch and you’ll get on with it all a lot, lot better ! We can then part exchange you trainer kite in against your water based inflatable kite so effectively your training over the winter didn’t really cost a great deal at all ?
